Stanley C. Hernly, is a Registered Architect in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Indiana, and Texas. He is native of Winchester, Indiana and holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Ball State University and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas.   Stan has been owner/principal of Hernly Associates, Inc. since 1987, managing projects ranging from 200 to 200,000 square feet, and ranging in price from $1,000 to $10 million.

Working out of a room in their house, built in 1907 on Tennessee Street, Stan opened his own firm as Stan Hernly Architects in 1987.  As the office grew, he moved the company to Massachusetts Street in 1999 where it would stay until 2016 when the firm moved into its own project and current home – the rehabilitated Delahunty Rhode Island St. Complex in East Lawrence. Stan and wife Joni moved to Lawrence in 1983.  They started their life together and family here, having 3 daughters, all graduates of LHS, who are now a physician, an architect, and a soon-to-be math teacher.  Away from work, Stan is active members in his church, First United Methodist Church.  He also enjoys spending time with family, gardening, traveling, KU Men’s basketball, and making wine (he has 35 vines in his back yard!)
