Camp Wood YMCA was established by the Wood family over 100 years ago to serve Kansas youth and families through summer residence camp and year-round event hosting. The camp is located in the Flint Hills on over 800 acres of tallgrass prairie.
Hernly Associates has assisted with various building renovations, including the Calhoun Office, Jones Hall, Log Cabin, Strickland Cabin, Horse Barn Addition and Richie Lodge. Both interior and exterior improvements have been made.
Many of these buildings were made more accessible and spacious through reconfiguration, including removing walls and doors. Bathrooms, including showers, were renovated to make them more accessible. Windows were restored and new windows were added to provide more natural light. Exterior siding and roofing were refurbished on the buildings. Several gutters and downspouts were rehabilitated. Electrical and plumbing updates were implemented, along with code and safety improvements.
