Sparhawk Labs was founded in 1987 by Vice President and COO, John U. Bascom, to manufacture solutions for animal health. The 10,000 square-foot facility was originally located in Kansas City, Kansas and the company relocated to a 50,000 square-foot building in Lenexa. Hernly assisted with a warehouse and office addition to the existing building to create a 150,000 square-foot center to support the growing business.

The building was designed with insulated tilt-up concrete panels. It features a two-story administrative space with a main lobby, offices, conference rooms, and classrooms. Large windows were added to the main entrance and throughout administrative spaces for an abundance of natural light. The building was also made accessible. The large warehouse space was added with lab, holding, shipping, packaging, and storage areas. A walk-in cooler was designed to store products. A dock area was also added.

The new facility is a manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution center for Sparhawk’s veterinary pharmaceutical products. It provides Generic Animal Health products, such as Injectables, Internal/External Solutions, Powders, Tablets, and Boluses for livestock and pets.
