This project is a 24,000 square-foot expansion of the Clinton Place Apartments. The existing building houses 58 apartments; the expansion will be a three-story building with 32 one-bedroom, one-bathroom units.
The expansion will not connect to the existing building, but will share a reconfigured parking lot. The first floor of the new complex will have 11 units, a lobby, office, fire riser room, and maintenance room. The second floor will have 11 units and a meeting room; the top floor will have ten units, a meeting room, and deck community room.
These are affordable housing units for seniors owned by the Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority. Rent is based on 30% of gross annual income, determined annually based on current market standards. The expansion is named after Delmar Jackson, a maintenance worker since 2006, and is the Housing Authority’s longest-standing employee. The apartments are located near an abundance of food and retail locations.
